Materials Engineer/Special Inspector
GEOMAT Inc. is looking for an entry level engineering or civil engineering technology candidate to aid its construction materials engineering department for its office in Farmington, NM. We will also consider candidates with a construction management background.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The ideal candidate will have an educational background in geotechnical engineering, civil engineering technology, or construction materials. The ideal candidate has a hard-working attitude, good interpersonal skills, good written and verbal communication skills, and will be a proactive problem solver. This position offers the opportunity to work with, learn from, and be mentored by senior engineering staff while executing the following roles/responsibilities:
- Perform field inspections and construction materials testing (soils and concrete).
- Perform laboratory testing in accordance with ASTM standards.
- Prepare laboratory reports under the guidance of a senior engineer.
- Will travel to project sites primarily in NM, AZ, and CO.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
- B.S. or M.S. in Civil, Geotechnical or Geological Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related engineering degree
- B.S. or M.S. in Construction Management
- 0 to 4 years relevant engineering experience. Individuals with additional relevant experience will also be considered.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel. AutoCAD experience is a plus.
- Hard working attitude, self-motivated, and good written/verbal communication skills.
- Ability and willingness to travel to project sites – Approximately 30 to 50% of work will be in the field.
- Physical requirements may require lifting up to 50 pounds periodically and traversing over rugged terrain.
- Must pass drug test and must have a satisfactory driving record.
COMPENSATION
- Compensation based upon experience. Compensation ranges from $55k to $65k for new graduates.

- Bonuses are given twice a year based upon personal and company performance. Annual Bonus average is $6k to $10k.
