GEOMAT performed geotechnical engineering exploration of the existing sediment in the North Evaporation Ponds No. 2 and 3 at the PNM San Juan Generating Station in Waterflow, New Mexico. Our work included field sampling of the soils with hand augers collecting 24 borings as well as five test pits. Characterizations of the soils were made for ponds as well as for soil cap borrow sources. Updates slope stability analyses were performed for the embankments in preparation for pond closure and a geotechnical report of opinions and recommendation delivered for PNM’s use.
We are proud to share that UES, a national leader in geotechnical engineering, environmental consulting, materials testing and inspection services, acquired GEOMAT in October 2025, expanding the firm’s West region and becoming their first New Mexico-based branches.
We will continue to operate and perform our work as GEOMAT, A UES Company.
